Former British Ambassador to South Sudan Mr. Tim Morris is a seasoned British diplomat who served as Her Majesty’s Ambassador to South Sudan from May 2015 to April 2017. He joined the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) in 1981 and held postings in London, Tokyo, Lisbon, and Madrid.

In Africa, Mr. Morris served as Ambassador to Morocco (also accredited to Mauritania), UK Special Envoy to the South Sudan Peace Process, Sahel Regional Coordinator, and Chargé d’Affaires to the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Upon his appointment in Juba, he stated the UK’s full commitment to helping the people of South Sudan achieve peace, safety, and prosperity.

His extensive career also includes key roles in multilateral diplomacy and economic policy: he served as Head of International Institutions, Deputy Director for the United Nations, and Head of UK Export Promotion to Japan at the Department of Trade and Industry. Mr. Morris has a long-standing connection with Japan.
