The UK’s leading experts in accelerated solar power are developing new technology to desalinate seawater. This has the potential to generate significant quantities of fresh water for use in irrigation, drinking and sanitation.
Led by Professor Chris Sansom, the Derby University team has become a world centre of expertise in sustainable water solutions.
Professor Chris Sansom is a Professor of CSP (Concentrating Solar Power), and Lead the Zero Carbon Theme, having worked in research labs for Plessey, GEC, Marconi, and PerkinElmer, before entering Academia with Cranfield University and now being the sole UK representative on the EERA-Joint Committee on CSP which steers EU research in CSP and heads up the Line-Focus research group with the JC-CSP.
